We’re very excited to announce the third edition of W139 hosts… opening up our space for makers and collectives. Following the previous vibrant editions in 2022 and 2023, this edition will run from 26 February until 25 April 2027. During a dynamic eight-week long programme we invite you—artists, designers, collectives, local initiatives, mediators, and communities—to test new projects, present work-in-progress, and engage with the artistic community in Amsterdam.
In a political climate that has fostered scarcity and competition within the cultural sector, with dwindling art spaces and strained budgets, opportunities to present work have become even more scarce for artists. W139 hosts… is our ongoing response to the tremendous urgency to create more space for experimentation, try-outs, and work in progress. With this programme, we want to share our space with more initiatives than we can usually accommodate in our regular programme, within our limitations as an independent art space.
Serving as a platform to exchange ideas, the W139 hosts… aims to support, enhance, and contribute to the artistic ecosystem and its communities. W139 hosts… is a self-organized setting that we create together. Artists take control over their own projects and the way they are tested or presented. Whether participants are starting out, emerging, or mid-career does not matter—we select based on the project that applicants want to organize, whether W139 is a suitable location, and how they would benefit from participating.
We invite you to propose projects that you consider urgent and relevant. This can include new works, work-in-progress, experiments, durational pieces, installations, performances, screenings, sound works, workshops, gatherings, rehearsals, informal work presentations, and more. During W139 hosts… we share our space, offer promotional support, documentation, and a contribution to material costs. Projects will be shown for one week (from Wednesday to Sunday). Time-based works such as screenings, workshops, performances can be suggested for shorter periods.
The deadline for submissions is 7 November 2026. Selection is carried out by the W139 team, together with two artists who join the selection committee.
We kindly ask you to read through the selection criteria before applying.

Selection results will be communicated by 11 December 2026 at the latest.
We are looking forward to hosting you!
