Dining Together with El-Sufra
“El Sufra” means the dining table in Arabic, a space where we share familiarity and comfort through flavours, smells, conversations, and the wholesome energy of gathering. To celebrate the culmination of Taking Root Among the Stars, W139 will be hosting chefs Danna and Nour for a special and intimate dinner by their cloud kitchen. Inspired by Octavia E. Butler’s philosophy of adaptation, care, and collectivity, this dinner honours the simple act of coming together.
Join us for a collective three-course dinner that has, at its centre, Maqloubeh: a dish often known as the Palestinian national dish. Maqloubeh is a symbol of festive gatherings and shared meals across generations. The three sides are green fallahi salad, cucumber & creamy yogurt salad, tahini dip with crispy bread and pomegranate – these three bring out the Maqloubeh’s flavors, and that’s why they’re usually served on this Sufra. We will end the evening with two kinds of tea with herbs brought all the way from Egypt’s desert.
Tickets are priced at a sliding scale, starting from €10 for a community ticket to €30 for a solidarity ticket that helps to support the initiative.
